It is recommended that competitors have a solid understanding of standard CrossFit exercises and movements and the different fitness domains associated with CrossFit. We will however offer a scaled and RX team division.
You do not have to belong to a CrossFit gym in order to compete, but team members should be familiar with standard CrossFit exercises and movements.
All competitors must be 16 years or older. All competitors and spectators will be required to sign a waiver upon entry.
There are four members to a team. Each team must have at least one male and one female (i.e. two males and two females, three males and one female, or three females and one male). How you compose your team is up to you and is part of the strategy of the “COLD WAR”.
We will be offering an array of prizes from our competition sponsors.
We highly encourage you to bring friends and family to come out and watch the event.
There is a $15 spectator fee for individuals 12 years and older which can be purchased in advance via Eventbrite at http://thecoldwar-midatlantic.eventbrite.com. We will also sell spectator tickets at the door.
Ticket proceeds will be donated to support victims of PTSD and raise funds for Bi-Polar Awareness and Research.
Yes, the competition starts at 6:30 a.m. for all competitors on Saturday. Athletes will need to be checked in by 7:00 a.m.. the first WOD will kick off promptly at 7:30 a.m.
There are several area hotels where out-of-town competitors and spectators can stay. Lorton is located next door to Ft. Belvoir and is surrounded by neighboring cities of Alexandria, Springfield, and Woodbridge, VA.
A few inexpensive recommendations within Lorton include the Comfort Inn and Hampton Inn near Woodbridge, or the Springfield Hilton or Marriott.

Yes, this competition is designed to test each team’s physical and mental endurance and stamina.
Some of the events will take place outdoors during the winter months (snow or shine), therefore cold weather gear is recommended for the outdoor events to include jackets, gloves. All indoor events will be conducted inside a field house that is not heated. Participants are encourage to dress in layers. Competitors should be prepared for all types of events to include indoor and outdoor events as well as swim wear/gear.
Some of our neighboring merchants/sponsors will be providing some food/beverage for the competitors for a fee. Competitors are encouraged to bring any additional or specialty food/beverage items they may require. We will provide lunch and beverages for our volunteers and judges.

We will only offer Rx team and individual female/male competitor division options. Scaling will be allowed if required, however teams or competitors that scale will not be eligible for placement in top three or prizes.
The registration fee for individual competitors is $125 per individual (plus processing fees) and $480 per team (plus processing fees). Registration closes on 31 October 2013 or when all available team and individual competitor slots have sold out.
Every team member will receive an event t-shirt with their registration. The top three teams in each division will also receive prize packages from our sponsors.
While we do not offer refunds once a team or individual has registered, competitors can transfer their slot to another individual through 29 November 2012.

The WODs will be comprised of standard CrossFit movements and exercises as well as military style exercises and movements. Some movements will be unique from other CrossFit competitions. Competitors should come prepared for all weather elements as some of the WODs will be completed outdoors (rain, snow, or shine). All competitors should also be prepared for possible Swim WODs and are encouraged to bring personalized equipment such as jump ropes, swim goggles, etc.
Some of the WODs will be posted 2 days in advance of the competition with the exception of the first WOD, some mini-event challenges and the finale WOD.
